From 1975 to 1977, BN and ACEC delivered 25 locomotives to the SNCB. These Co'Co' locomotives hauled 110 tons, had a continuous power output of 5,150 kW, and were designed for a top speed of 160 km/h.
Their main area of operation was the Ostend–Brussels–Luxembourg main line in passenger service. They also remained in passenger and freight service until the end of 2013. Three Reeks 20 locomotives have been preserved.
