Viessmann 5224
Control module for digital / analogue light signals.

This module has an integrated digital decoder (Märklin-Motorola, NMRA-DCC) and is used to control 2 light signals (a main and a distant signal) with LEDs and a common positive pole or incandescent lamps, if these together do not consume more than 200 mA of current. Prototypical, soft signal change. Suitable for all light signals from track 0 to Z (except signals with multiplex technology). Switching can be carried out conventionally using the key control panels Art. 5545, 5546 and 5547 or directly digitally. It is equipped with the Viessmann signal bus and can be configured for the following applications:
- 2- or multi-aspect light signal: A 2-aspect main signal with the signal aspects drive and stop requires the push button control panel Art. 5547 (for 4 signals) or a digital address. A 3- or 4-aspect signal with the additional terms slow travel and no maneuvering is required for the push-button control panel Art. 5546 (3-aspect, 2 signals) or 5545 (4-aspect, 2 signals) or 2 addresses in digital mode.
- Station signal or block signal: When configured as a block signal, the module reacts automatically to the transmitted route status. This function requires track occupancy reports with permanent contacts. Up to 2 monitored sections are required for each signal section. In this operating mode, the module automatically switches to travel when the following section is reported as free via the signal bus. If one of the two sections is occupied, the module switches to halt.
- Your own distant signal or distant signal on the mast: The signal module controls the main signal and the corresponding distant signal or the distant signal of a subsequent signal if it is attached to your own mast. In this case the distant signal is switched to prototypically dark when the vehicle stops.
- When stopping, interrupt the traction current or switch on the brake generator: With the plug-in train control relay Art. 5228, the module can automatically stop the trains. This can be done either by switching off the traction current before the signal or, in the case of digital systems, even more prototypically by switching to the brake module Art. 5232 (for Märklin-Motorola) or a brake generator (for NMRA-DCC). This means that block section control is possible in both analogue and digital operation.
- Coupled signal: The configuration can be used to define whether a signal should only indicate stop and slow travel. In this case, too, the module only requires the push-button control panel Art. 5547 or a digital address.
The logic in the control module ensures that the red button always wins when several buttons are pressed at the same time, both for control via button control panels and via contact tracks.
